Senator Sally Turner reacts to the
passage of controversial Energy Omnibus Bill

            [October 31, 2025]
            Springfield, IL— State Senator
Sally Turner (R-Beason) issued the following statement following the
passage of the controversial, so-called “Energy Omnibus Bill”:

“Illinois families are already paying more than ever for basic
necessities, and this bill will only make things worse. By removing
price caps and forcing ratepayers to fund billions in new costs, it
guarantees even higher utility bills across our state. Maybe not
tomorrow, but make no mistake, Illinoisans’ energy rates will go up
			because of this legislation.

“What’s worse, this proposal once again strips away local control,
preventing local elected officials and communities from having a
real say in how large energy projects impact their land and
residents. I’ve always supported a balanced approach to our energy
portfolio, but this bill goes too far.

“On top of that, it will make Illinois even less competitive for
business at a time when we’re already one of the least
business-friendly states in the nation. Instead of learning from
past mistakes, Illinois Democrats are doubling down on the same
failed energy policies that have already driven up costs and reduced
			reliability.

				“Families, farmers, and
employers across Illinois deserve better than another costly
mandate that puts special interests ahead of people.”
