Mt. Pulaski water main upgrade
[September 10, 2025]
Dear Residents,
I hope this message finds you well. As you have probably heard or
noticed, Illinois American Water (IAW) is beginning a major upgrade
to a crucial water main on Vine St. Our partnership with IAW
continues to address several long-term goals that will benefit the
City on all levels of water and wastewater quality. This improvement
will span the entire length of Vine St- from IL State Route 121
heading south to McDonald St and will take several months to
complete. The City is EXCITED for this project, as it will improve
the clean water supply to all residents- a common goal I feel is
shared by all.
I do understand that there will be
an inconvenience to the traffic on one of our most traveled streets.
This will affect daily commutes, school routes, resident access, and
general detours. I kindly ask to show patience with this
improvement, as the benefits of long-term water quality will
absolutely outweigh the temporary construction that will be
performed.
We will continue to stay in contact
with IAW, their construction crews, and school officials to make
sure this project has a manageable impact on our daily routine. As
we receive any current or future traffic controls plans, we will
communicate those to the best of our ability.

We thank you for
your patience while IAW progresses with this major endeavor.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time, or
for any reason.
Regards,
Matt Bobell
