Mt. Pulaski Fall Festival hosts the "Anything With Wheels" Car Show

[September 17, 2025]  Mt. Pulaski held their annual Fall Festival on their Square on the weekend of September 13th and 14th. While the festival did have events on the days leading up to the weekend, the biggest day of the festival was Saturday the 13th. The weather that day was nearly overbearing, with the sunny weather getting up to 93 degrees Fahrenheit at the hottest part of the day. There were more events scheduled this day than any other day of the festival. The events started as early as 8:00 a.m. and went as late as 11:00 p.m.

One of the events that started at 8:00 a.m. was the “Anything With Wheels” car show. This show ran until 2:00 p.m. and saw vehicles of all kinds lined up on S. Washington Street from the corner of W. Cooke Street to W. Wayne Street. Not all of the vehicles were there at 8:00, with some coming an hour or so later.

The name of the car show did not lie, as the types of vehicles that were on display ranged greatly. There were tractors of varying sizes and models. Some of them were toy tractors that were made for kids to ride. There were race cars and derby cars, as well as sports cars and muscle cars.

One of the people that brought cars was a man named Rich Kelley. Kelley brought two race cars, one with Scooby Doo and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on it, and the other with Batman on it. Kelley shared that he uses these cars in dirt track racing at Lincoln’s Spoon River Speedway, and has done so for about four years. When asked why Scooby Doo and the Ninja Turtles, Kelley shared that the team actually took a vote this year. They wanted to do something that the kids were going to enjoy, and those two franchises won out.

Another person with a vehicle there was Troy Rawlings. His vehicle was a demolition derby car that had clearly seen a lot of action. Rawlings shared that he has been racing in demolition derbies for about five years now, and that this car was in the demolition derby at the Logan County Fair. He had won first place in the Open Wire class with this very car, and shared that it was his first ever win, and in his hometown, no less.

The cars stayed parked from the early morning into the early afternoon, as the weather transitioned from cool to uncomfortably hot. Some of the cars were even in the parade that was held at 4:00 p.m. that day.

Three winners for the show were chosen. These are the winners, the category they one, and their vehicle model:

● Cars: Randy and Donna West with a 1964 Chevy Impala SS

● Tractors: Joe Lesson with a 1951 Cub

● People’s Choice: JC Coogan with a 1965 GTO
