Monticello tops Railsplitters 5-1
The Lincoln Railsplitters lost to the Monticello Sages on Monday
afternoon by a final score of 5-1.
The Sages took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a
solo home run by Jax Bailey.
Monticello added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Sages pounded out a single and three doubles in the inning to
take a 5-0 lead.
Karson Komnick scored Lincoln’s lone run in the top of the seventh
inning.
Lincoln had five hits off the Sages pitching staff.
Karson Komnick led Lincoln by going 2-for-2 at the plate with two
walks and a run scored.
Grady Rutledge, Owen Comstock and Cooper Koehler each had one hit
for the Railsplitters.
Carson Fuiten took the loss for Lincoln. Fuiten worked six innings,
giving up six hits and four earned runs. He walked one and struck
out one.
Lincoln falls to 5-3 on the season.

Rochester crushes Lincoln 13-1
The Lincoln Railsplitters suffered their biggest defeat of the
season on Tuesday in Rochester as the Rockets won 13-1.
Lincoln scored their only run in the top of the first inning.
The Railsplitters were off to a good start with Karson Komnick
hitting a lead-off triple to center. Komnick scored on a ground out
by Grady Rutledge. Owen Comstock and Chase March also singled in the
inning but they were left stranded on base.
Rochester plated nine runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Lincoln starter Austin Lucas walked the first
batter and the next guy hit a home run to left on the first pitch.
Two more singles and another home run in the inning followed.
Tate Aue was on the mound when the second home run soared to left.
To make matters worse for the Railsplitters, the bases were loaded.
After the grand slam by Reese Gade the score was 9-1. The two-run
shot in the inning was courtesy of Sam Ferris.
Ferris added an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning and
Ajay Runkel hit a three-run home run to put the game out of reach
for Lincoln.
Lincoln had four hits in the game. One each from Karson Komnick,
Owen Comstock, Chase March and Bryce Vlahovich.
Austin Lucas suffered the loss for Lincoln. He got one out in the
first inning while giving up eight runs on three hits. He walked
four batters and struck out one.
Tate Aue pitched three and two-thirds innings, giving up four hits
and four earned runs. He walked one and struck out two.
Lincoln falls to 5-4 on the season.
The Railsplitters play Glenwood Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Chatham.
