Lady Railers defeat Morton 10-0

The Lady Railers softball team needed just five innings to shutout the Morton Potters 10-0 on Monday afternoon at Schweitzer Field.

Lincoln scored in every inning.

Laurynn Mayberry’s RBI double scored Sage Gilbert with the first run of the game in the first inning.

Morgan Sheley and Emma Hutchison each had singles in the second inning. There were also two walks, an error and a hit by pitch in the inning that helped Lincoln plate three runs.

The story was similar in the third inning and Lincoln took advantage by scoring five more runs. Grey Gilbert also had a triple that scored a run and Sage Gilbert drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

Sheley’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning made the score 10-0.

Lincoln had seven hits off Morton pitching.

Morgan Sheley led Lincoln’s offense with a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and an RBI.

Grey Gilbert, Sage Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry, Lily Holmes and Emma Hutchison each had one hit.

Norah Block pitched the complete five innings for Lincoln and she earned the win. She gave up three hits and struck out two. She did not walk a single batter.

Lincoln improves to 5-3.

Rochester defeats Lady Railers 6-2

The Rochester Rockets beat Lincoln 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Schweitzer Field.

Lincoln scored their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Laurynn Mayberry’s double was the only hit of the inning. Addy Mahler drove in a run on a sacrifice bunt and Mayberry scored a run on an error.

The Rockets had eight hits off Lincoln pitching, including home runs by Kendall Edmondson, Peyton Purves and Mylie Deatherage.

Norah Block suffered the loss for Lincoln. Block pitched five and one-third innings allowing five hits and four runs. She struck out two batters.

Laurynn Mayberry pitched an inning and two-thirds. She allowed three hits and two runs. She walked two batters.

Jaelyn Watts was the winning pitcher for Rochester. She gave up four hits and struck out 12 batters.

Lincoln falls to 5-4 on the season.

The Lady Railers will host Chatham Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
