Lady Railers crush Senators 19-4

[April 08, 2026]  It only took four innings for the Lady Railers to destroy the Springfield Senators 19-4 on the softball field Tuesday afternoon.

Lincoln had a dozen hits off Senators pitching.

Norah Block recorded three hits for Lincoln.

Grey Gilbert, Addy Mahler and Kate Farnam each had two hits.

Sage Gilbert, Preslee Sherren and Morgan Sheley each had one hit.

Lincoln’s six-run first inning was highlighted by Block’s two-run double and Farnam’s RBI single.

The Lady Railers loaded the bases in the second inning on walks and went on to plate another six runs. Mahler, Sherren and Farnam all drove in runs on singles.

Grey Gilbert started the third inning with a triple and this was the beginning of Lincoln scoring four more runs. Mahler drove in a run with a double while Block and Sheley hit singles to drive in runs.

When the third inning ended Lincoln was on top 16-4.

The Gilbert sisters went back-to-back with a single and a triple to account for another run in the top of the fourth inning. Two walks, a passed ball, a grounder and a wild pitch allowed Lincoln to tack on three more runs in the inning.

Lincoln starter Norah Block retired the Senators in order in the bottom of the fourth inning and the 19-4 win was in the books.

Block was the winning pitcher. She allowed four hits and four runs in four innings. Only two runs were earned. She walked two and struck out nine.

Vanessa Kelley was the losing pitcher for Springfield.

The Senators committed five errors.

Lincoln improved to 9-5 this season.

The Lady Railers will host Champaign Central on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
