Hilltoppers defeat Knights 6-4

[April 08, 2026]  Mount Pulaski defeated the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood Hammond Knights 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Park.
 
Preston Cowan led the Hilltoppers offense. Cowan was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.   

 

Caden Wyler had the only other hit for the Hilltoppers.

The Knights committed four errors that helped the Hilltoppers run production.

The Knights out-hit the Hilltoppers 6-3.

Mount Pulaski was on the board in the first inning with two runs. Cowan drove in the first run with a single and the second run scored on an error.

Mount Pulaski stretched the lead to 4-0 in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Luke Martin and a wild pitch that scored Tyler Cross.

In the top of the fourth inning the Knights were able to cut the lead to 4-2.

Cowan and Wyler each drove in a run in the sixth inning for Mount Pulaski and that turned out to be huge because the Knights came back to plate two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Chase Roberts was able to record a strikeout for the final out of the game with two runners aboard, securing the Hilltoppers 6-4 win.

Mount Pulaski used three pitchers in the game.

Carter Clark earned the win for Mount Pulaski. He tossed three innings, allowing one hit and one walk. He struck out four batters.

Jaeden Jackson pitched the middle two innings, giving up two hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out one.

Chase Roberts worked two innings in relief, giving up three hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out four batters.

Jansen Burnett was the losing pitcher for the Knights.

Mount Pulaski is now 4-2 on the season.

The Hilltoppers will host Delavan on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
