Lincoln stops the Tornadoes 9-2

Grady Rutledge and Tate Aue were both outstanding on the
mound Saturday for the Railsplitters as Lincoln beat Taylorville 9-2
at Mike Curry Field.
Rutledge started the game and threw four innings, allowing six hits
and two runs. Only one run was earned. He struck out three batters
and walked zero.
Aue threw the final three innings, allowing just two hits and
striking out five batters.
The Tornadoes scored a run in the top of the first inning thanks to
a lead-off double and then an RBI single. Rutledge settled down
quickly after that to record three straight outs.
Karson Komnick was hit on the second pitch in the bottom of the
first inning and he reached third base on an error before scoring on
a double by Austin Lucas. Lincoln took a 2-1 lead after Cooper
Koehler hit a grounder to third and the Tornadoes committed another
error. Three walks followed and a hit batter and this allowed
Lincoln to take a 4-1 lead.
Taylorville cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the top of the third
inning.
Lincoln scored three times in the bottom of the third inning. Kane
Komnick and Grady Rutledge each hit RBI singles and Karson Komnick
hit a fielder’s choice that drove home Bryce Vlahovich.
Chase March made the score 8-2 with an RBI single in the fourth
inning.

Rutledge added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning
that scored Paxton Lora with the final run of the game.
Taylorville outhit Lincoln 8-6.
Bryce Vlahovich led Lincoln at the plate. He was 2-for-2 with two
walks, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Austin Lucas, Grady Rutledge, Chase March and Kane Komnick each had
one it.
Lincoln (11-6) will play at Normal U-High on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
