Metamora edges Lady Railers 7-6

[April 20, 2026]  The Metamora Redbirds used a big fourth inning to get past the Lincoln Lady Railers 7-6 on Friday evening in Metamora.
 
Lincoln opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning. After two outs, the Redbirds committed two errors. Lincoln was able to get a run-scoring single from Norah Block and Addy Mahler scored on a wild pitch. 

 

Four singles in the bottom of the first inning allowed the Redbirds to tie the game.

Lincoln loaded the bases in the top of the second inning after an error, a single and a hit by pitch. Grey Gilbert’s fielder’s choice put Lincoln up 3-2. Laurynn Mayberry knocked in two more runs with a single to center.

The 5-2 Lincoln lead was erased in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Redbirds scored five times. All the runs scored with two outs. Three RBI singles and a steal of home put Metamora up 7-5.

Consecutive doubles by Grey Gilbert and Mayberry in the top of the seventh inning closed the gap to 7-6 but Lincoln could not get any closer. A pop out, a strikeout and a ground out to short closed the game for Lincoln, giving Metamora the 7-6 win.

Norah Block took the loss for Lincoln. She threw six innings, giving up eleven hits and seven runs. Only two of the runs were earned. Block walked two and struck out one.

Adi Weldon was the winning pitcher for the Redbirds. She allowed six hits and six runs over seven innings. Three of the runs were earned. She struck out nine batters and walked zero.

Lincoln (10-9) will play at Normal Community Monday at 4:30 p.m.
