Normal Community wins walk-off over
Lady Railers 5-4

The Lady Iron of Normal Community beat the Lincoln Lady
Railers 5-4 on Monday afternoon in Normal.
Lincoln held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning
when the Lady Iron plated two runs to walk off with the win.
Sage Gilbert earned a walk and Laurynn Mayberry had a single in the
top of the first inning to start things off for Lincoln. A sacrifice
fly by Addy Mahler gave Lincoln a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Iron took a 3-1 lead in the third inning. A two-run home
run by Bailey Engel was the big hit of the inning. Olivia Prevo
added an RBI single for the 3-1 lead.
Lincoln scored a run in the fourth inning thanks to an error.
Grey Gilbert’s RBI double tied the game in the fifth inning and then
the Lady Railers went ahead on an RBI single by Mahler.
In the bottom of the seventh inning the Lady Iron loaded the bases
on three walks and went on to tie the game on a fielder’s choice.
After an intentional walk to Prevo, Kendall Jones hit the
game-winning single to right that gave Normal Community the 5-4 win.
Both teams had seven hits in the game.
Lincoln was led by Grey Gilbert and Addy Mahler with two hits
apiece.

Sage Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry and Emma Hutchison
each had one hit for Lincoln.
Norah Block was the losing pitcher. She worked six and one-third
innings, giving up seven hits and five runs. Four of the runs were
earned. She walked four and struck out six.
Bailey Engel was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for
Normal Community.
Morgan Frailey was the winning pitcher for the Lady Iron.
Lincoln (10-10) will play at Decatur Eisenhower on Wednesday at 4:30
p.m.
Lincoln will host Tri-City/Sangamon Valley/Mount Pulaski on Thursday
at 4:30 p.m.
