Riverton beats Mount Pulaski 6-4

[April 21, 2026]  The Riverton Hawks beat the Hilltoppers 6-4 Monday night in Mount Pulaski.
 
Mount Pulaski’s three run lead in the bottom of the first inning disappeared by the fourth inning when the Hawks went in front 4-3. The Hilltoppers were able to tie the game in the next inning but the Hawks scored twice in the top of the sixth inning and that was the difference in the game.   

 

Mount Pulaski scored their three runs in the first after two outs. After a walk to Luke Martin and an error on a ball hit by Tyler Cross, the Hilltoppers scored their first run. After Jaeden Jackson singled to right, Carter Clark hit a fly ball to left and reached on an error. In the meantime, Cross and Jackson scored to give Mount Pulaski the early 3-0 lead.

Riverton plated two runs in both the top of the third inning and the top of the fourth inning.

Jackson delivered an RBI single for Mount Pulaski in the fifth inning that scored Martin with the tying run.

An RBI single and a sacrifice fly scored the two runs that put Riverton in front for good in the sixth inning.

Chase Roberts took the loss for Mount Pulaski. He worked the last four innings of the game. He allowed two hits and two runs. Both runs were unearned. He walked two and struck out six batters.

Jaeden Jackson started the game and threw three innings. He allowed four hits and four runs. Only three runs were earned. He walked six batters and struck out three.

Cole Howard was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. He struck out six Hilltoppers over five innings.

Mount Pulaski (8-5) will host Heyworth Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
