Pioneers shutout Railers 7-0

[April 22, 2026]  It’s always a cool experience when the Lincoln Railsplitters get the opportunity to play at Duffy Bass Field in Normal, home of the Illinois State Redbirds.

The stadium is also the home field for the Normal U-High Pioneers.

On Tuesday afternoon, Karson Komnick led off the game with a double for Lincoln, but while that was a good start for the visitors, the home team took the 7-0 win.

The Pioneers scored two runs in the first inning on a home run by Caleb Hornbrook. Griffin Meyer was on base for the home run.

Bryce Vlahovich got a single for Lincoln in the second inning but he was left stranded.

U-High scored three runs in the second inning. One run scored on an error, another on a sacrifice fly and the third on a passed ball.

The Pioneers put together a triple and a double in the third inning to make the score 6-0. Parker Roop led off the inning with the triple. Hornbrook followed with the double.

Lincoln started the fourth inning with singles by Grady Rutledge and Owen Comstock but nothing came across home plate for the Railsplitters that inning.

With a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, the Pioneers increased their lead to 7-0.

Comstock reached base again for the Railsplitters with a single in the sixth inning but that concluded their offense for the day.

Lincoln used five pitchers in the game.
