Lincoln demolishes Decatur
Eisenhower 24-3

The Lady Railers beat the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers 24-3 on
Wednesday in Decatur.
Laurynn Mayberry got the win for Lincoln by tossing the complete
four-inning game but she also had a tremendous day in the batter’s
box.
Mayberry was 5-for-5 with five RBIs and five runs scored.
Lincoln had 12 hits versus Panthers pitching with Emma Hutchison and
Grey Gilbert each getting two hits.
Madison Kurka, Preslee Sherren and Lily Holmes each had one hit.
Lincoln scored in each of the four innings.
The Lady Railers scored three runs in the top of the first inning.
Mayberry’s single drove in the first run. Mayberry scored the second
run on a wild pitch. A third run scored on an error.
Lincoln crossed home plate four times in the second inning.
Mayberry’s double scored two runs. Addy Mahler’s grounder scored one
run. Norah Block scored to increase the lead to 7-0.
Lincoln’s biggest inning was the third inning when the team scored
12 runs.
Lily Holmes started the inning with a bunt single. Grey Gilbert,
Laurynn Mayberry and Emma Hutchison also added singles in the
inning. Mayberry would slug a double in her second at-bat of the
inning. Madison Kurka also doubled to drive in a run. The Panthers
issued five walks in the inning and committed two errors. By the
time the inning ended Lincoln was on top 19-0.

The Panthers broke up the shut out in the bottom of
the third inning by scoring three runs. Their only hit in the inning
was a double.
Grey Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry and Emma Hutchison belted run-scoring
singles in the top of the fourth inning and again with four walks
issued Lincoln was able to add to the lead. The inning ended with
Lincoln up 24-3 and the Panthers had one more at-bat in the bottom
of the fourth inning.
Norah Block recorded two strikeouts in the fourth inning to bring
her total to nine and she picked up the win after the final out.
Block allowed three hits and three runs. Only two of the runs were
earned. She walked two batters.
Lincoln drew 15 walks in the game.
The Panthers committed seven errors.
Lincoln (11-10) will host Tri-City/Sangamon Valley/Mount Pulaski
(16-3-1) today at 4:30 p.m.
