The Lincoln Railsplitters win Olympia Co-Ed Relays

[April 23, 2026]  Olympia High School hosted the Neisler-Stine Co-Ed Relays on Tuesday night in Stanford and it was the Lincoln Railsplitter Track and Field team with the most impressive finishes to take first place with 117 points.

Clinton finished in second place with 108 points and Prairie Central was third with 97 points.

Eleven teams competed at the meet. The field events started at 4:00 p.m. and the running events started at 5:00 p.m. The meet always ends late in the evening under the lights.

Notable first place finishes for the Lincoln Boys included:

4x400 relay team
4x800 relay team
SMR 1600m

Notable first place finishes for the Lincoln Girls included:

1600m ~ Taylor Short
4x400 relay team
4x800 relay team
SMR 800m
JV 4x400 relay team

Addy Varner also broke her own school record in the Discus. Her new record is 121’2” (36.94m).

“It was a real team effort,” said Crombie. “We had about 20 boys and 20 girls entered across 24 events. Most of the athletes were entered in three to four events each. We had 15 first or second place finishes and one school record. The seasoned runners did their job. But there were a lot of surprises too - performances we didn’t expect that helped push us to the win.”

“These athletes work so hard at practice every day and to have one evening to enjoy success as a team was great. But the kids were quick to say we still have work to do. Back at it tomorrow!”

Crombie also mentioned that three athletes will be going to Palatine this Saturday to compete in the prestigious Distance Night in Palatine 2026. This is the premier event for distance runners in Illinois.
