Lincoln edges Tri-City 2-1 in pitcher’s dual

[April 24, 2026]   The Lady Railers beat Tri-City 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at Schweitzer Field in a pitcher’s dual between Norah Block and Lily Woodworth.
 
Tri-City co-ops with Sangamon Valley and Mount Pulaski. 

 

Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Sage Gilbert scored on a sacrifice bunt by Addy Mahler.

Maebri Bender led off the fourth inning with a home run to left to score the Tornadoes only run of the game.

Grey Gilbert led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single to left. After Gilbert stole second, Laurynn Mayberry bunted back to the pitcher. Woodworth’s throw to first was off-target and as Mayberry hustled into second, Gilbert raced home with the go-ahead run.

Woodworth led off the top of the seventh inning with a single to left and she was followed in the lineup by Hayli Ferriell, who laid down a bunt single. Block worked out of the jam by recording two strikeouts in the inning and getting another out on a sacrifice bunt.

Norah Block earned the win. She worked seven innings, allowing five hits and one run. She walked one and struck out eight.

Lily Woodworth took the loss. She worked six innings, giving up five hits and two runs. Neither run was earned. She struck out seven and walked zero.

Grey Gilbert led Lincoln’s offense with a 2-for-3 performance and one run scored.

Sage Gilbert, Addy Mahler and Morgan Sheley each had one hit.

Hayli Ferriell led the Tornadoes with two hits.

Audrey Cooper and Lily Woodworth each had one hit, along with Maebri Bender hitting her second home run of the season.

Each team committed two errors.

Lincoln (12-10) will play at Rochester Friday at 4:30 p.m.
