Hilltoppers beat Lions 19-7

[April 27, 2026]  The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers defeated the Lanphier Lions 19-7 on Saturday at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield.

Chase Roberts earned the win for Mount Pulaski. He pitched two innings and faced six batters, striking out all six.

Tyler Cross pitched an inning and two-thirds, recording three strikeouts and giving up five runs and four walks.

Tucker Fitzpatrick worked one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out one.

Jaeden Jackson pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run and four walks.

Preston Cowan threw two and one-third innings, giving up a run on one hit and four walks. He struck out two batters.

Mount Pulaski plated eight runs in the top of the first inning.

After the third inning, Mount Pulaski was up 11-0.

Lanphier scored in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, still trailing 11-8.

The Hilltoppers bounced back to plate three runs in each of the final two innings.

Lanphier came up short in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring just one run and losing by a final score of 19-7.

Chase Roberts led Mount Pulaski at the plate. He was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Preston Cowan was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Ethan Stoddard was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. He walked twice.

Skylar Durst, Luke Martin, Jaeden Jackson and Keoni Charron each had one hit for Mount Pulaski.

Ethan Bietsch was the losing pitcher for Lanphier.

Lanphier had four hits and seven errors in the game.

Mount Pulaski (11-5) will play Routt Catholic in Jacksonville on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
