Pekin defeats Lincoln Lady Railers
16-7
[April 30, 2026]
The Pekin Dragons broke a 5-5 tie in the fourth inning and
went on a tear after that, defeating the Lady Railers 16-7 on
Wednesday afternoon at Schweitzer Field.
A three-run homer in the first inning by Kylea Seidell gave the
Dragons the early lead in the game.
Lincoln came back to score twice in the bottom of the first. Sage
Gilbert hit a lead-off single and scored on a triple by her sister,
Grey Gilbert. Laurynn Mayberry hit a grounder that scored Grey
Gilbert with Lincoln’s second run.
The Dragons scored on a triple and a home run in the second inning.
The two-run homer was courtesy of Lillian Daniels.
Lincoln tied the game 5-5 in the bottom of the third inning. Sage
Gilbert walked and Grey Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry and Emma Hutchison
each singled in the inning. Addy Mahler also batted in a run on a
fielder’s choice.
A double and an error allowed the Dragons to take a 6-5 lead in the
top of the fourth inning.
Seidell hit her second home run of the game in the top of the fifth
inning. It was a solo shot over the centerfield fence. Pekin would
pad the lead on a double and another Lincoln error. The Dragons were
up 8-5 when the inning ended.
Seidell was having herself quite a day when she hit another
three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning. A couple more runs
in the inning put Pekin on top 13-5.
Norah Block hit a lead-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning
and Lily Holmes followed with a single. Madison Kurka drove in a run
on a ground out and then Sage Gilbert drove in another run on a
single. Lincoln’s offense was done for the day with the score now
13-7.
But the Dragons were still swinging hot bats on this chilly day.
Jaeleigh Decker hit a solo home run to center to add to the lead in
the top of the seventh inning. Two walks later the Dragons were
threatening to score more runs. Those two runners did score thanks
to a passed ball and a sacrifice fly.

With the Lady Railers needing a miracle in the bottom of the seventh
inning, all they got was two ground outs and a strikeout.
Pekin wins by a final score of 16-7.
