Mount Pulaski gets by Fisher 55-43
in regional action

The Hilltoppers turned a 10-point deficit to start the fourth
quarter into a 12-point win on Monday night in the opening round of
the Class 1A regional tournament hosted by Mount Pulaski. The
Hilltoppers defeated the Fisher Bunnies by a final score of 55-43.
Aaron Volle carried the Hilltoppers offensively in the first
quarter, scoring all eight points as Fisher took an 11-8 lead.
Mount Pulaski managed just two field goals and four free throws in
the second quarter and they found themselves down 28-16 at the half.
The Bunnies still remained in control of the game, leading 41-31 at
the end of the third quarter.
A huge turnaround in the fourth quarter saved the Hilltoppers
season. Mount Pulaski would outscore the Bunnies 24-2 in the final
eight minutes. Eric Cooper and Franklin Wade combined to score 22
points. Reed Martin tossed in one bucket in the fourth quarter.
Wade’s layup with 4:38 on the clock tied the game 43-43 and the
Hilltoppers would completely shutdown the Bunnies offense the rest
of the game. Cooper’s free throw at the 3:26 mark put the
Hilltoppers up for good. Mount Pulaski’s defense forced a handful of
turnovers in the fourth quarter as the Hilltoppers survive and
advance with the 55-43 win.

Eric Cooper led the Hilltoppers with 19 points.
Franklin Wade added 16 points.
Aaron Volle scored 10 points.
Mount Pulaski will play Armstrong at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
