Decatur MacArthur ends Lady Railers'
season at sectionals

The Lincoln Lady Railers saw their terrific season end
Thursday night with a 38-32 loss to the Decatur MacArthur Generals
in the Normal West IHSA Class 3A sectional tournament.
The two teams were neck and neck for three quarters, with the
Generals pulling away late in the fourth quarter.
Mia Clark led Lincoln with 15 points. She leaves Lady Railer
basketball having scored 1,149 points in her career.
Grace Bivin, who had a fantastic freshman season, recorded a
double-double. Bivin had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Lincoln and MacArthur were tied 11-11 after the first quarter.
MacArthur jumped ahead 16-15 at the half.
Grace Bivin gave Lincoln a 19-16 lead with two buckets to start the
third quarter. Journee Wilson tied the game on a three-pointer.
After Grace Schneider’s free throws and Mia Clark’s layup, Lincoln
was back in front 23-19. The Generals came back to take a 26-23 lead
after a couple of three-pointers. Decatur held a 28-27 advantage
when the third quarter ended.

No matter how hard Lincoln fought in the fourth
quarter, they kept coming up short. Clark’s three-pointer around the
two-minute mark made the game close, 33-31 the score. The Generals
stretched that lead to 35-31 pretty quickly. Free throws at the end
of the game and missed layups throughout the game summed up
Lincoln’s luck. The Generals took the sectional title by a final
score of 38-32.
Lincoln finished the season with a 25-9 record.
