Mount Pulaski beats Olympia 64-60

[January 22, 2026]  Mount Pulaski traveled to Stanford on Tuesday night to take on the Olympia Spartans and the Hilltoppers escaped with a 64-60 win.

The Hilltoppers and the Spartans were tied 21-21 after the first quarter with Franklin Wade on fire from the start. Wade scored 16 points in the first quarter. Aaron Volle scored a three-pointer and Reed Martin had one basket in the opening quarter.

The Spartans held a slim 34-33 lead at the half. Martin poured in eight points to lead the Hilltoppers in scoring in the second quarter.

Mount Pulaski jumped in front 52-46 in the third quarter. Each of the five starters scored for Mount Pulaski with Martin leading the team with six points.

The two teams continued to battle back and forth in the fourth quarter but Mount Pulaski was able to secure the 64-60 win as Austin Kretzinger and Martin each dumped in four points.

The Hilltoppers were also an impressive 16-for-18 from the free throw line. Wade was a perfect 8-for-8 from the line.

Franklin Wade led Mount Pulaski with 22 points.

Reed Martin tossed in 20 points for the Hilltoppers.

Dylan Nowaskie of Olympia led all scorers with 29 points.

The Spartans won the JV game 57-23.

Mount Pulaski will host Delavan on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
