Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers defeat
Illini Central 67-42; Tomahawk champs improve to 21-0

Alyson Murphy and Addison Brown combined to score 55 points
in the Lady Toppers 67-42 Tomahawk Conference win over the Illini
Central Cougars on Tuesday night. With the win the Lady Toppers
remained undefeated at 21-0 and they captured the 2026 Tomahawk
Conference championship.
The Lady Toppers trailed the Cougars 13-12 after the first quarter
but with Murphy really taking the ball to the hoop in the second
quarter, Mount Pulaski was able to race out to a 34-19 lead at the
half. Murphy was on fire, scoring 17 points in the second quarter.
By halftime, Brown had scored on three 3s. Elayna Marten and Ella
Martin each scored a basket in the first half for Mount Pulaski.
Murphy’s ten points in the third quarter along with two more 3s from
Brown kept the Mount Pulaski lead intact. The score was 50-34 when
the third quarter ended.
Brown sank three more 3s in the fourth quarter, bringing her total
to eight for the game. Murphy was 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Olivia Smith and Audrey Cooper each scored two points as the Lady
Toppers had no trouble getting the win once they warmed up.
Alyson Murphy led all scorers with 31 points.
Addison Brown tallied 24 points.

The Lady Toppers will host Sangamon Valley on
Thursday night for Senior Night. The JV is scheduled to start at
6:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will follow. Recognition of seniors
Alyson Murphy and Elayna Marten will take place in between games.
There was no JV game versus Illini Central.
