The Lincoln Department of Tourism partnered with the Logan County Tourism Bureau to apply for a grant that would fund tourism initiatives in Lincoln as well as the county.

At the Tuesday, January 27th Committee of the Whole meeting Lincoln Director of Tourism Scott McCoy showed aldermen a rendering of a giant penny statue that he wishes to have placed along the East exterior wall of the new Route 66 Museum on Broadway Street in Lincoln.

He said the penny measures about 12 feet in diameter and will have a special route 66 insignia included in the structure. He added that there is an official penny with a similar insignia that visitors to the museum will be able to purchase as a memento of their visit to Lincoln.
