Hartsburg-Emden 8th grade
volleyball punches ticket to State
[March 19, 2026]
The Hartsburg-Emden Stags eighth grade team won the Class 1A
Sectional Championship 25-17 and 25-15 over Cornell on Monday night
in Hartsburg.
Courtney Cecil and Piper Leesman each led the Stags with 9 kills.
Lila Cross led the team with 14 assists.
Brinley Ballance was awarded the IESA Sportsmanship Award for
Hartsburg-Emden.
The Stags (19-8) will play Carrollton St. John’s (20-1) on Friday
night at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the IESA 8th Grade Class 1A
State Tournament hosted by Fieldcrest Middle School in Wenona.
