Comstock’s five RBIs drive Railsplitters past Olympia 12-9

[March 23, 2026]  Owen Comstock drove in five runs on three hits Saturday as the Lincoln Railsplitters defeated the Olympia Spartans 12-9 in Stanford.

The Railsplitters scored three runs to open the game.

Karson Komnick and Grady Rutledge each drew walks to start the game. After one out the Railsplitters hit three consecutive singles. Comstock’s bunt single drove in the first run. Chase March drove in another run with a single to left. Bryce Vlahovich drove in the third run on a base hit to left field.

Lincoln added two more runs in the top of the second inning.

Cooper Koehler led off the inning with a single to left. Grady Rutledge kept the left fielder busy with a double that scored Koehler. With two outs Comstock singled to left to make the score 5-0. Comstock made the final out of the inning trying to make it to second base.

The Spartans scored three runs in the third inning. An RBI double by Noah Walker scored one run. Olympia scored two more runs on wild pitches.

Lincoln was able to take advantage of two walks to start the fourth inning. Comstock drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and March drove home Rutledge on a sacrifice fly.

Lincoln held a 7-3 lead over the Spartans.

Joe Springer added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth for Olympia.

The Spartans continued to chip away at the lead by scoring two more runs in the fifth inning. Sylus Pierce had an RBI double and Lucas Sloan had an RBI single. Lincoln kept a 7-6 lead over Olympia.

The Railsplitters sent ten batters to the plate in the top of the sixth inning and scored five runs on one hit. The Spartans helped by committing three errors and issuing two walks in the inning. Comstock drove in two runs with a single to left. Austin Lucas scored on an error. Comstock scored on a wild pitch. Brett Hayes made the score 12-6 when he drove in March on a sacrifice fly. Tate Aue and Cooper Koehler singled after the five run explosion, but they were stranded on base when Komnick made the third out.

The Spartans came across with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Springer singled with the bases loaded and two outs to make the score 12-7. The Railsplitters allowed the next two runs on an error, but after Ryder Wilson lined out to the shortstop for the last out the 12-9 win belonged to Lincoln.

Tate Aue (1-0) earned the win for the Railsplitters. He pitched four innings in relief, allowing eight hits and three earned runs. He walked one and struck out seven.

Bryce Vlahovich started the game for Lincoln and he worked three innings. He gave up two hits and four earned runs. He struck out two and walked three.

Owen Comstock led the Railsplitters offense with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate and five RBIs and two runs scored.

Cooper Koehler was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Grady Rutledge, Chase March, Bryce Vlahovich and Tate Aue also had hits for Lincoln.

The Railsplitters (3-0) will host Jacksonville on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. on Mike Curry Field.
