Mount Pulaski beats the Bullets 5-4

[March 28, 2026]  The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers got their first win of the season on Friday night and it was an exciting 5-4 victory over the Williamsville Bullets.

The game was back and forth for six innings with Mount Pulaski getting two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.

Williamsville jumped in front 1-0 in the first inning with a triple, a walk and a passed ball leading to a run.

Chase Roberts led off the Hilltoppers first inning with a single and he moved to second when Preston Cowan walked. Roberts scored Mount Pulaski’s first run on a Bullets error.

Roberts hit an RBI double in the second inning to put Mount Pulaski up 2-1.

The Bullets were quick to tie the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly.

Keoni Charron hit a one-out triple to right field to put the Hilltoppers in scoring position in the fourth inning. Charron scored on Tucker Fitzpatrick’s sacrifice fly to center, putting Mount Pulaski on top 3-2.

The Bullets kept pace and tied the game again as they batted in the top of the fifth inning. Two walks and an RBI single made the score 3-3. The Bullets were threatening with the bases loaded when Aaron Volle struck out Wyatt Patton to end the inning.

The Bullets took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs, Brenton Trickey’s RBI single put the Bullets up 4-3. The inning ended with a runner caught stealing home.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Carter Clark hit a one-out single to start the rally. Jaeden Jackson followed with a line drive double to left. Clark had to stop at third but he would soon score on a fantastic bunt down the first base line by Charron. Jackson scored the go-ahead run on a ground ball by Tucker Fitzpatrick that resulted in an error by the third baseman. Mount Pulaski took over the game with a 5-4 lead.

The Bullets did get a two-out double in the top of the seventh inning but the Hilltoppers were able to escape by getting Patton to fly out to the centerfielder, Tyler Cross, to end the game.

Aaron Volle earned the win for Mount Pulaski in relief. He threw three innings, allowing three hits and one run. He walked two and struck out five.

Carter Clark started the game for Mount Pulaski. Clark threw four innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He walked four and struck out two.

Jaeden Jackson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Mount Pulaski. He smacked two doubles in the game.

Chase Roberts was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. He hit a double and a single.

Luke Martin, Carter Clark and Keoni Charron also had hits for Mount Pulaski.

Collin Grosenheider was 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Williamsville.

Sam Dukett was the losing pitcher for Williamsville.

Mount Pulaski (1-2) will host Litchfield today at 10:00 a.m.
