Mount Zion beats Hilltoppers 5-2

[May 01, 2026]  The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers took on Class 3A Mount Zion on Thursday and it was the Braves getting the 5-2 win.
 
The Braves scored a run in the bottom of the first inning.    

 

Mount Pulaski tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk.

Another bases loaded walk allowed Mount Pulaski to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

The Braves came back to score four runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Two walks and an error also helped the Braves plate runs. The final run of the game came on a sacrifice fly as Mount Zion went up 5-2.

The Braves shut down the Mount Pulaski offense for the remainder of the game and L.J. Renfro picked up the win for Mount Zion.

Carter Clark was the losing pitcher for Mount Pulaski. Clark threw four and one-third innings, giving up six hits and five runs. Only two runs were earned. Clark walked five and struck out six.

Chase Roberts pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing one walk and striking out two.

Mount Pulaski had six hits in the game.

Luke Martin and Jaeden Jackson each had two hits.

Preston Cowan and Carter Clark each had one hit.

Mount Pulaski (11-7) will play at Cornerstone Christian Friday at 4:30 p.m.
