Mayberry and Mahler lead Lady Railers past Pleasant Plains 12-4 on Senior Night

[May 05, 2026]  Laurynn Mayberry and Addy Mahler each had a great day at the plate versus Pleasant Plains on Monday as the Lady Railers defeated the Cardinals 12-4 on Senior Night.

Mayberry was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. She slugged two triples.

Mahler was 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBIs. She had a double, a single and a walk.

Madi Kurka also had two hits, including one double.

Sage Gilbert, Grey Gilbert and Morgan Sheley each had one it.

Mayberry also pitched the complete seven inning game, allowing four hits and four runs. Only two runs were earned. She walked four and struck out six.

Addy Mahler’s two-run double in the first inning gave Lincoln the early lead.

Reese Cline hit a solo home run in the second inning to cut the lead in half.

Kate Farnam scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-1.

Mayberry’s triple in the fifth inning scored Grey Gilbert with a run for Lincoln. Mahler drove in Mayberry with a ground out as Lincoln’s lead increased to 5-1.

Pleasant Plains came back in the top of the sixth inning to score three runs and trim the Lincoln lead to 5-4.

Lincoln put the game out of reach by scoring seven runs on four singles, a triple and two walks in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kurka and Sheley each singled in the sixth inning and after an error by the Cardinals scored two runs, Grey Gilbert hit an RBI single. Mayberry followed with an RBI triple. Mahler’s RBI single made the score 10-4. Lily Holmes bunted in another run on a fielder’s choice and Farnam drove in the final run of the game on a sacrifice bunt.

Anna Nestler was the losing pitcher for Pleasant Plains.

Prior to the first pitch, the Lady Railer softball program honored senior players and managers for their dedication to the program.

Those students recognized were:

Morgan Sheley, Lily Holmes, Kelsey Marten, Madi Kurka, Lauryn Crawford, Preston Hunt and Elias Alaniz.

Senior Kelsey Marten has missed her senior season due to injury but she will continue her athletic and academic career at Millikin University.

Senior Morgan Sheley will also continue her softball and cross country and academic career at Monmouth College.

Congratulations to all the athletes and managers.

Lincoln (16-13) will play at Sacred Heart-Griffin Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
