Normal West crushes Lady Railers 13-3

[May 07, 2026]  The Lady Railers got off to a good start on Wednesday afternoon against Normal West, leading 2-0 in the first inning. But by the third inning the Wildcats went on a tear, scoring thirteen runs over the last three innings to win the game 13-3.   

 

The game started with a leadoff walk to Sage Gilbert and a single by Grey Gilbert. Laurynn Mayberry’s bunt escalated into a two-base error and the Lady Railers went ahead 2-0.

In the top of the third inning Mayberry added an RBI single to increase the lead to 3-0.

The party was quickly over for Lincoln soon after.

Normal West plated five runs in the third inning.

The Wildcats scored four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Each of the Wildcats' twelve hits were singles.

Lincoln had four hits, one each by Sage Gilbert, Grey Gilbert, Laurynn Mayberry and Morgan Sheley.

Mayberry was the losing pitcher. She threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing twelve hits and thirteen runs. Only eight of the runs were earned. She walked one and struck out three.

Lincoln (16-14) will host Tri-Valley on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
