Mount Pulaski outlasts Pawnee 11-10
[May 09, 2026]
The weather did very little to cooperate on Friday evening
but the Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers still managed to beat Pawnee 11-10
in six innings.
The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the top of the first inning. An
RBI double by Luke Martin drove in the first run. Aaron Volle, the
designated hitter, drove in the second run on a single to left.
Volle added a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning that
scored Chase Roberts with the third run of the game.
The Indians went ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning. A
bases-clearing double, with the help of an error, tied the game. An
RBI single put Pawnee in front.
The Hilltoppers scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning as
the game got ugly for Pawnee. Mount Pulaski did not record a single
hit in the big inning. There were nine walks in the inning, one
error and a sacrifice fly. Mount Pulaski jumped ahead 11-4.

The Indians came back with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Three singles, three walks and an error put them within a couple
runs for win. The Indians stranded a runner at second base when a
strikeout and a fly out dashed any hopes for a run to score.
Mount Pulaski escaped Pawnee with an 11-10 victory.
Both teams battled difficult conditions due to the weather and there
were several small delays according to Mount Pulaski coach Troy
Burgard, so it was a bit surprising the two teams were able to get
six innings played.
