Mount Pulaski defeats Havana 5-3

[May 14, 2026]  The Hilltoppers had the offense going early against the Havana Ducks on Wednesday. With Luke Martin on the mound Mount Pulaski picked up a 5-3 win on the road.
 
Martin threw six innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out eleven batters. 

 

Chase Roberts earned the save in relief. He worked one inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Mount Pulaski captured a 2-0 lead in the first inning with Aaron Volle hitting an RBI double and Jaeden Jackson hitting an RBI single. Roberts singled to lead-off the game.

An RBI single by the Ducks in the bottom of the first trimmed the lead to 2-1.

Carter Clark led off the second inning with a single. The Hilltoppers loaded the bases with a walk to Tucker Fitzpatrick and a hit by pitch to Roberts. With two outs, the Havana left fielder made an error on Martin’s fly ball and two more runs scored for Mount Pulaski.

An RBI double scored two runs for Havana in the bottom of the second inning.

Mount Pulaski added to their 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

Jackson’s RBI double drove in Martin and the Hilltoppers were up 5-3.

Martin and Roberts sent the Ducks down in order for the remainder of the game and the Hilltoppers picked up the win.

Jaeden Jackson was swinging the hot bat for Mount Pulaski. He was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Chase Roberts was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Aaron Volle and Carter Clark each had one hit.

Mount Pulaski (17-8) will host El Paso-Gridley Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Seniors will be recognized before the start of the game.
