Mount Pulaski beats El Paso-Gridley
11-6 on Senior Night

The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers were off to a strong start on Thursday
night and took down the El Paso-Gridley Titans 11-6 on Senior Night.
The Hilltoppers went on a hit parade in the first inning, scoring
five runs and giving starter Carter Clark some breathing room.
Luke Martin drove in the first run on an RBI double. Aaron Volle
drove in the next run with a single. Tyler Cross crushed a
run-scoring triple in his at-bat. Clark doubled in a run and finally
Caden Wyler singled in a run.
The Titans scored a run in their half of the second inning but Mount
Pulaski was quick to score again in the third inning.
Tucker Fitzpatrick and Chase Roberts hit back-to-back doubles to
make the score 6-1.
The Titans took a turn at a big inning in the fourth when they
scored five runs to tie the game.
Mount Pulaski was back on top in their half of the fourth inning.
Volle’s double drove in Martin with the go-ahead run. Jaeden Jackson
drove in a run on a ground out.
The Hilltoppers added to their lead in the sixth inning. Cross hit
his second triple of the game with Volle and Jackson on base. Clark
then hit a grounder to short that drove home Cross with the final
run of the game.
Carter Clark started the game for Mount Pulaski and earned the win.
He threw four innings, allowing five hits and six runs. Four runs
were earned. He walked four and struck out five.
Jaeden Jackson worked the final three innings in relief. He gave up
one hit and one walk. He struck out four batters while earning the
save.
Aaron Volle continues to swing a hot bat from the DH position. Volle
was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Tyler Cross was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Chase Roberts was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Luke Martin, Carter Clark, Tucker Fitzpatrick and Caden Wyler each
had one hit.

Before the game Mount Pulaski honored seniors from baseball, track
and field and the shooting team.

Eric Cooper, Preston Cowan, Tyler Cross, Tucker Fitzpatrick, Jaeden
Jackson and Luke Martin were recognized for their years of
dedication to the Mount Pulaski baseball program.
Connor French was honored for track and field but he was unable to
attend.

Clay Leonard and Beau Tschantz were honored for their years with the
shooting team. Both young men have participated in shooting sports
for seven years.
Mount Pulaski (18-8) will play Illini Central/Hartsburg-Emden Friday
at 4:30 p.m. in Mason City.
