Lady Railers bow out of regionals with 5-2 loss to Normal West

[May 20, 2026]  The Lady Railers lost to the Normal West Wildcats 5-2 in the first game of the Class 3A regional tournament hosted by Washington on Tuesday night.  

 

Lincoln fell behind 4-0 in the game before scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Addy Mahler led off the sixth inning with a home run to right field to put Lincoln on the scoreboard. After Emma Hutchison was hit by a pitch and Norah Block walked, Morgan Sheley hit a single to load the bases. Sage Gilbert walked with the bases loaded to bring in Lincoln’s second run of the game.

Normal West added one run in the top of the seventh inning and secured the 5-2 win.

Norah Block took the loss for Lincoln. She threw seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs. Only four runs were earned. She walked two and struck out five.

Lincoln had seven hits in the game.

Sage Gilbert and Morgan Sheley each had two hits.

Grey Gilbert, Addy Mahler and Preslee Sherren each had one hit.

Erika Durham led Normal West at the plate. She was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. She had a home run and two doubles for the Wildcats.

Hope Ferrill was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Wildcats.

Kate McGowan was the winning pitcher for Normal West. She tossed the complete game, allowing seven hits and two runs. She walked four and struck out seven.

Lincoln ends the season with a 16-17 record.
