Hilltoppers fall to PORTA 6-2

[May 20, 2026]  Mount Pulaski traveled to Petersburg to take on the PORTA Bluejays Tuesday afternoon. The Hilltoppers managed to score two runs on one hit and that was not enough. The Bluejays won 6-2.   

 

PORTA co-ops with Ashland/Chandlerville and Greenview.

Mount Pulaski scored their two runs in the top of the third inning with the help of two walks, a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch.

The Hilltoppers broke up the no-hitter in the seventh inning when Skyler Durst singled to lead off the inning.

The Bluejays reliever, Jett Karrick, struck out the next three batters in the inning to end the game.

The two teams were tied 2-2 at the end of the third inning but PORTA went ahead 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Bluejays added one more run in the sixth inning on an RBI single.

Lucas McCoy was the winning pitcher for PORTA.

Preston Cowan started the game for Mount Pulaski. He threw four innings, giving up five hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out three.

Jaeden Jackson worked two innings, giving up three hits and four runs. Only two runs were earned. He walked two and struck out three. Jackson suffered the loss.

Mount Pulaski (19-9) will host Argenta-Oreana Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
