Lincoln Railsplitters Track and Field boys ready for State

[May 29, 2026] This weekend it’s the boys turn to showcase their talents at the IHSA Class 2A State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
 
Colin Crombie, Owen Cyrulik, Pierce King and Henry Stoltzenburg are returning to State.

They ran the 4x800m relay last year at State however today Preston Short will run in Cyrulik’s spot so Cyrulik can concentrate on the 800m individually.

At the IHSA Class 2A TRG Sectional last Wednesday in Pontiac the 4x800m relay team placed second with a time of 8:10.34.

Cyrulik was the 800m champion last week at the sectional meet with a time of 1:56.01.

Short will also be running the 1600m at State. He qualified by finishing in sixth place at the sectional meet. He ran it in 4:28.00.

King missed qualifying in the 1600m with a time of 4:35.09.

Carson McConnell qualified in the discus. His throw at the sectional meet was 145’ 10” and that put him in second place in Pontiac. McConnell went early to Charleston to practice so he is not pictured in the group photo.

The Prelims get underway today with the finals scheduled for Saturday.
