Chester East-Lincoln wins Regional
Championship

The Chester East-Lincoln Panthers defeated the West Lincoln
Broadwell Wolverines 3-2 to win the Class 1A Regional 9 Championship
on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Lincoln Junior High School’s
Ralph Gale Field.
The Panthers made it an exciting come from behind win as they walked
it off in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Asher Morris had the game-winning hit with one out in the bottom of
the seventh inning, scoring Parker Potratz with the winning run.
The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning off
Panthers starter Cruze Komnick. Brantley Conrady doubled with one
out and he scored the first run on an error. Masen Cross scored the
Wolverines second run after Kale Singleton’s base hit.
Komnick scored the Panthers first run in the bottom of the first
inning after he walked and scored on an error.
Komnick walked to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning for the
Panthers and after stealing second and third, he scored the tying
run on a ground out by Bennett Wilson.
Owen Coleman retired the Wolverines in the top of the seventh inning
on two strikeouts and a ground out.
Coleman would go on to be the winning pitcher when the Panthers
captured the regional title in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Komnick was outstanding on the mound for CEL with just four hits
allowed in six innings. He walked two and struck out eleven.

Conrady was also terrific on the mound for WLB. He worked five
innings, giving up two hits and one run. Conrady walked three and
struck out ten.
Cross took the loss for WLB.
With the 3-2 win the Panthers improve their season record to 14-1.
Chester East-Lincoln will play Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes on
Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. for the Sectional E
Championship.
That game will be played at Unity Christian in Decatur.
