She says, “Diversity is key in any fitness program. Performing the same exercises over and over can create boredom, then people tend to lose interest. Repetitiveness may also increase your risk of injury. By adding a variety of cardiovascular and strength training exercises to your regimen, your body will be less likely to adapt.” Pavlik says that during the summer months, our fitness programs extend outside to our Aquatic Center. Water aerobics and Aqua Zumba begin in June and conclude near the end of August. Last summer, the Park District added a Mid-Summer Mini Triathlon event in July that was a huge success. Recreation and activities The Lincoln Park District also strives to bring fun, interactive, recreational programs to its patrons and community. Program Coordinator Abigail Neece has assembled a wide variety of activities and events. These programs include special drop-in activities or painting classes for all ages. Neece also oversees annual holiday events such as the Sweetheart Dance, Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday with Santa, Letters from Santa, and the huge Halloween FunFest. CONTINUED →
