“This is a family favorite recipe given to me years ago by my Aunt Mary.”

Cake:
2 sticks butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
˝ cup buttermilk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla

Frosting:
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pound confectioner’s sugar
1 ˝ cups of chopped walnuts

In saucepan, combine cake ingredients of butter, cocoa and water. Bring to boil. In mixing bowl, combine soda, flour and sugar; pour hot mixture in and blend well. Add buttermilk, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla; stir. Pour batter into 15 x 18 inch rimmed sheet pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. While cake is baking prepare frosting by bringing butter, cocoa and milk to boil in saucepan. Stir in vanilla and confectioner’s sugar. Once cake is removed from oven pour warm frosting over warm cake. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
