Easy Holiday Cookie Bars
SUBMITTED by Deb Rohrer, LDN Food Editor

Cookies
1 17.5-oz. bag Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
(or your favorite sugar cookie dough recipe)
egg and margarine according to package amounts
Green gel food coloring

Icing:
3 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons margarine, softened
2 tablespoons Crisco shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
about 2 tablespoons water
drop of green gel food coloring

green sugar sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8 x 8 inch pan with foil, spray with cooking spray; set aside. Mix cookie dough according to package directions.

Divide dough evenly into three bowls, and color each with food coloring to make 3 levels of green intensity.

Roll each color of dough into grape-sized balls. Drop and scatter different colors into pan.

Press down the dough as evenly as you can in the pan. Bake the cookies bars for about 30 minutes in the oven or until they look and feel done.

Cool.
Lift foil and cookie bars from pan; place on cutting surface.

Make icing by combining ingredients in a bowl; whip with an electric mixer until fluffy. Spread icing evenly on cooled bars. Top with green sprinkles. Cut into bars.

NOTE: You can change up the colors and make them into any Holiday “Look” you want. Maybe bright colors for Easter or Spring.
