Local
photographer selected for top 10 in state competition
For
the third time in six years, Stephen E. Klemm of Picture
this
Photography received word from the Associated Professional
Photographers of Illinois that all four of his entries qualified
him as one of Illinois Top Ten Photographers in 2000, during the
annual print competition sponsored by the A.P.P.I. His prints
received two blue ribbons, which signify par excellence in
photography, and two white ribbons, which signify excellence. Two of the four prints entered were awarded a merit seal.

Under
the rules, each member is permitted to submit no more than four
photographs. Over 400
photographs are submitted to the annual A.P.P.I. judging; however,
the rigid standards allow only 30 to 35 percent to be displayed as
deserving of a merit score. Those
receiving a merit score will be on display at the national
convention in Las Vegas July 31-Aug. 4.
Having a photograph accepted for display demonstrates a
high level of photographic excellence.

Klemm
is serving his ninth term on the board of directors for the
A.P.P.I. This year he
will be the president of the State of Illinois Professional
Photographers.
Klemm
also received his master's degree in August 1998, making him
Lincoln/Logan County's first and only photographer ever to hold a
master's degree, craftsman degree and to be PPA-certified. At age
38, he is one of Illinois' youngest members to hold all three
degrees.
