Vincent
E. Peifer, 86, of Lincoln died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2000,
at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Holy Family
Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Kerrigan Funeral Home
in Lincoln, with the rosary and wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Peifer
had farmed in the East Lincoln area all his life.
He
was born Feb. 16, 1914, a son of Frank and Margaret (Gabbett) Peifer.
He married Jean Warrens Sept. 25, 1948, in Sheboygan, Wis. She
preceded him in death Nov. 1, 1995.
Surviving
are two daughters, Mary Peifer of Peoria and Ann Mosier of Colfax;
four sons, Thomas Peifer of Lincoln, James Peifer of Lawndale,
Robert Peifer of Chesterfield, Mo., and Timothy Peifer of
Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Katherine Peifer and
Dorothy Morrow, both of Lincoln.
He
was a member of Holy Family Church and a fourth degree member of the
Knights of Columbus, both in Lincoln.
He
was an avid woodworker, gardener and beekeeper and had been state
deputy bee inspector from 1932 to 1936.
He
was a 1932 graduate of Lincoln High School.

Tierney
Jean
Ellen Tierney, 48, of Lincoln, died at 6:05 p.m. Monday, April 24,
2000, at St. John’s Hospice, Springfield. She had been in ill
health.
Funeral
services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Kerrigan
Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The rosary
and wake service will be at 4 p.m.
Mrs.
Tierney was a homemaker. She had been a secretary for Dr. Dan
Freesmeier and later at Holy Family Rectory, both in Lincoln.
She
was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Lincoln, a daughter of Merritt and Mildred
(Zurkammer) Stoll. She married John Tierney Feb. 14, 1984, in
Lincoln. He survives.
Also
surviving are three sons, Eric D. Graue and Chad Graue, both of St.
Louis, Mo., and Justin Merritt Tierney at home; two stepdaughters,
Christine Tierney of Columbus, Ohio, and Cathleen Tierney of
Bloomington; and two sisters, Marilyn Long of Springfield and Judy
Lumpp of Lincoln.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews.
She
was a member of Carroll School Club.
She
graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969 and attended Illinois
State University in Normal.
Memorials
may be made to St. John’s Hospice in Springfield or Carroll
Catholic School in Lincoln.

Miller
Veta
H. Miller, 84, of Lincoln, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27,
2000, at St. John’s Hospice North in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be Monday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Herbert W. Coates officiating.
Burial
will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Macedonia, with graveside services at
3 p.m.
Visitation
will be Sunday, April 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mrs.
Miller was retired from Lincoln Developmental Center.
She
was born March 17, 1916, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Clarence
and Anna (Wageneck) Hall. She married William Melvin Miller Dec. 1,
1940, at Perryville, Mo.
Surviving
are her husband, of Lincoln; one son, Loyd Johnson of Lincoln; two
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
She was the last of her immediate family.
She
was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church.

Tammeus
Harold
L. Tammeus, 74, of rural Armington died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, April
25, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Armington
Christian Church. Clayne Beck and Norvin Condy will officiate.
Burial
will be in Oakview Cemetery, rural Armington.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Quiram Funeral Home in
Atlanta. Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 p.m. by Comet Lodge
#641 A.F.&A.M., Minier.
Tammeus
farmed in the Armington area. He was also an operating engineer
working out of Local #649, Peoria, until his retirement in 1992.
He
was born Sept. 16, 1925, at Delavan, a son of Wilkie and Harriet (Goller)
Tammeus. He married Ollie Israel July 20, 1947, at Armington. She
survives.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Nancy (and Bruce) Lindenfelser of
Armington; two sons, Dale (and Connie) Tammeus and Robert (and Tami)
Tammeus, both of Armington; five grandchildren, Clint (and Brandy)
Hutchcraft, Katie Tammeus, Amanda Tammeus, Leann Tammeus and Taylor
Tammeus; two brothers, Howard Tammeus of Nokomis, Fla., and Clifford
Tammeus of Peoria; two sisters, Marilyn Curtis of Houston, Texas,
and Louise Carroll of Mackinaw; and several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Niki
Hutchcraft.
Tammeus
was a 1943 graduate of San Jose High School.
He
was a member of the San Jose United Methodist Church, former member
of the Delavan National Guard, Armington Board of Education, Minier
Masonic Lodge, Bloomington Consistory and Peoria Mohammed Shrine.
Memorial
