implant helps Lincoln woman rejoin hearing world

"I
can’t believe how much I didn’t hear!" After more
than 20 years of not hearing things most of us take for granted, Eva
Dahmm is celebrating everyday sounds again. She’s heard the squawk
of a baby robin, the rustle of a mourning dove’s wings, the squeak
of train wheels and the sizzle of eggs cooking in a skillet. This
dramatic improvement came on July 13, when she got the headset to go
with her new cochlear implant.

Mary
Brown, who will be a fifth-grade student in Kate Ewing's class at
Washington-Monroe this fall, helps special needs teacher, Jane
Redding, plant flowers and herbs donated by Mitchell-Newhouse Lumber
Company. Washington-Monroe and other District 27 schools are using
gardens to make their grounds more attractive and to engage
students, teachers, parents and neighbors in gardening projects.

The Vestry of
Trinity Episcopal Church presented Beth Bryant with
a Scholarship to Life. Beth a graduating senior, has been a very
active Member in the life of the Church, being involved in Church
School, as an Acolyte, in Breakfast Club, chairing Crop Walk,
musical programs for the Holidays, summer church camp, and in the
pews at worship with her parish Family.
