Paul Meints receives appointments, award
Herbert
Franks, president of the Illinois State Bar Association, has
appointed Paul A. Meints of Atlanta and Bloomington to the Trusts
and Estates Section Council and to the Agricultural Law Section
Council. He is the chair of the Agricultural Law Section for
2000-2001 and has served continuously in various capacities since
the section was first formed in 1983.
 The
Agricultural Law Section Council is composed of 17 leading
attorneys from throughout the state who are experienced in various
facets of the laws relating to agriculture and the businesses and
families that are associated with farming and its related
activities. They write, share and disseminate newsletters and
information to other members of the bar association who work with
agriculturally related matters. They are responsible for the
annual Law-Ed program for professionals. The section council
monitors and evaluates legislation, makes recommendations and,
from time to time, testifies where neutral professional input is
needed. The Agricultural Law Section Council is also responsible
for developing and communicating ideas for the improvement of the
functioning of agriculturally related activities and for helping
other lawyers better serve the public. The Trusts and Estates
Section Council is made up of 28 leading attorneys from throughout
the state who are experienced in estate planning.
At
the recent annual meeting of the bar association, Meints received
the Austin Fleming Newsletter Editors Award for writing and
editing more than 65 issues and over 600 pages of materials for
the membership of the Agricultural Law Section and for the Trusts
and Estates Section.
In
the past year he has written and presented 10 presentations and
articles. He is the author of other articles and items that have
been published in a variety of law and professional publications.
He annually presents ideas, suggestions, materials and drafting
aids for the annual Ag. Law-Ed program and also for the annual
Trusts and Estates Law-Ed program.
Meints
was admitted to practice in Indiana and in Illinois in 1974. He
resides in Bloomington and has offices in Bloomington and Atlanta.
