County Fair Day Luncheon

Main Street Lincoln director, Wendy Bell, also directs the state Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant. The pageant is held each January to select the state fair queen from the county fair queens. This year’s Logan County Fair Queen, Elizabeth Stoll, will compete in the pageant next January.

Once a state queen is crowned, Bell plans the queen’s schedule and arranges chaperones for events all over the state during the queen’s one-year reign. During the state fair, the queen lives on the fairgrounds, and Bell helps coordinate her appearances there. Bell has served as state director of the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant since 1994.

The state queen becomes an employee of the Illinois Department of Agriculture and spends her summer on the road promoting the state fairs in Springfield and DuQuoin and the county fairs.
