Proud
of our flag
To
the editor:
My
heart skipped a beat,
So
I sat down with pen,
"Thanks
for flying our flag
On
page one, LDN."

(Note: This poetic message, sent to the Lincoln Daily News
on July 5, refers to the waving flag in the July 4 issue.)
Officer
appreciates cooperation with community policing efforts
8-10-00
To
the editor:
I
would like to thank the Lincoln Daily News for doing a
fantastic job in informing the public about the Lincoln Police
Departments Community Policing / Crime Prevention efforts within
the City of Lincoln. I enjoy working with the citizens of Lincoln,
from the seniors to the young children. I feel that if the
children can learn just one thing by interacting with our seniors
it will make them a better person as they become our leaders. I
encourage everyone in Lincoln to take a vested interest in their
neighborhood and assist the Lincoln Police Department in
continuing to make Lincoln a excellent place to raise our
children. I would also like to thank everyone who participated in
the National Night Out August the 8, 2000, it could never have
happened, if it were not for your corporation. You are excellent
representatives of Lincoln, IL. Keep up the good work.

Wanted
to see pictures of Grand Champion cattle, 4-H sale
8-10-00
To
the editor:
You
have a good thing going - definitely better the (the other
un-named news source in town) - but I am disappointed in you Fair
review - pictures, etc. What about pictures of Grand Champion
cattle (steers and breeding stock) in 4-H and Grand Champion
Steers and breeding stock in open class, and the 4-H sale on
Sunday along with pictures? So, along with the (other un-named
news source) you still have a long way to go to meet the public
needs and what they want to see and hear about. These 4-H kids
spend lots of time and money to present their projects and need to
be recognized by our local news media.
Thanks,
Judith
