To the editor:
If possible, and if they have home computers, I
would be interested in hearing from old high school buddies from
Lincoln. I grew up there and attended school there, grades 1 through 12.
I left in 1959 to join the Marines and after five years serving in
the Far East, I was discharged and became a diplomat
in the foreign service (federal government). During my career of
27 years, all but one assignment was overseas, from Asia, to
Africa, to Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East.
Having been abducted three times, a hostage in the 1979 Embassy in
Tehran and shot at and tracked in Bogota, Colombia, I feel now that
I am retired and living in Southwest Texas, on the Mexican border,
it would be a good time to see if the following individuals are
still around and would like to contact me. They are Jug Mallerage,
Laverne Turner, Jim Leslie, Jim Cave and any others that may
remember me from our old school days. My e-mail address is okihanna@hiline.net.

Hi.... Even though
I'm spending some days here in sunny Arizona, I still miss the
home town news. But not any more.... because it's so easy to check
my E-mail and then the Internet. Your news stories along with the
photos are great. Thanks for bringing the Lincoln and Logan County
news to me anywhere I go in this land. See you soon!

Dear Editor:
Just wanted to say
I'm enjoying your web site. I'm originally from Lincoln, and I
moved away in 1982. So it's great to be able to look at the news
from your site. I check it every day.
Thanks again.

Dear Editor:
Thank you so much
for LDN. I was raised in Lincoln and graduated from LCHS in 1992
and also have family here. I now live in Arthur, Ill., and like to
know what's going on in my home town. From what I've seen so far,
you've got a good thing going here. Keep up the good work.

Dear Editor:
As coordinator of
Logan County Teen Court, I would like to take the opportunity to
thank Logan County State’s Attorney Bill Workman for his
tireless efforts in helping the American Legion Auxiliary get
Logan County Teen Court established. Many trips to Knox County to
view their Teen Court program were necessary, and Mr. Workman made
those trips after work hours. He also acts as legal counsel,
supplies us with judges each month for all cases, and he, himself,
has been at all 29 cases we have completed thus far.
He has given
considerable time that involves work beyond what he does in his
office on a daily basis. I wonder how many state’s attorneys
would take that much time out of their after-work schedule to make
this program happen and continue each month all year long. Mr.
Workman believes in the program. He is committed to helping the
youth in our county and has a very good rapport with each and
every student involved with the program.
Not only is this
program of great benefit to the court system, it is also extremely
important for our youth. Our community will see yet untold
benefits of this program.
Thanks to State’s
Attorney Bill Workman, a dream has come true for me. A "Teen
Court" to help teenagers in trouble has been established and
is making a difference in the lives of our youth.

Dear Editor:
I just wanted to
thank you for your article on Teen Court. My daughter is one of
the participants from Mount Pulaski High School. She really takes
all of it very seriously and it has helped her to see how the
system works and also how it doesn't always go like you think it
should. I was surprised to hear from her how seriously the teens
that have chosen to go through teen court take the proceedings. I
must admit that I knew only somewhat of how it worked, but after
reading your article, it was much clearer. I hope more communities
initiate such programs. It is a good way to get young people
involved in the community and keep on track.
Thank you.
