Miller
Lloyd
E. Miller, 89, of Hopedale, formerly of Bloomington and Armington,
died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Hopedale Nursing Home,
where he had resided since January 1999.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Armington
Christian Church. Clayne Beck will officiate.
Burial
will be in Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Quiram Funeral Home,
Atlanta.
Miller
was a long-time farmer in the Armington area. He retired in 1973.
He
was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Brown County, Ind., a son of John E.
and Sarah Belle (Wilson) Miller. He married Grace Dickerson Oct.
12, 1935, at Bloomington. She survives, in Minier.
Also
surviving are one son, Donald (and Louise) Miller of Armington; a
daughter-in-law, Pat Miller of Heyworth; eight grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Venita Crego of Pontiac and
Norma June Rabe of Virginia Beach, Va.
He
was preceded in death by one son, Bill; two brothers; and two
sisters.
He
served on boards for the Milking Shorthorn Organization, Armington
Christian Church and Armington Grade School.

Dr. William Hartman
Dr.
William C. Hartman, 73, of Lincoln, died at 11:35 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 5, 2000, at his home.
Funeral
services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Holy Family
Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Kenneth Hummel officiating.
Burial
with military rites will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery,
Springfield.
Visitation
will be from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Kerrigan Funeral Home,
Lincoln, with the rosary and wake service at 8:15 a.m.
Dr.
Hartman was a podiatrist in Lincoln and Springfield for 27 years.
He retired in 1992.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European
Theater.
He
was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Christian County, a son of Shadrach and
Ida (Taylor) Hartman. He married Joan Christen in 1949 in
Springfield. She survives.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Susie Johnson of Longview, Texas;
three sons, Ross Hartman and Rod Hartman, both of Lincoln, and
Johnny Johnson of Corpus Christi, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln, past president of
the Sangamon County Podiatry Association, a former member of the
Lincoln Rotary and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756
in Lincoln.
He
was an avid fisherman.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital hospice program.
Matilda Schmidt
Matilda
Louise Schmidt, 97, of Lincoln, died at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb.
5, 2000, at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan and the
Rev. William Adam co-officiating.
Burial
will be at Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour prior to services at the
church on Wednesday.
Mrs.
Schmidt was a homemaker.
She
was born May 19, 1902, at Forest City, a daughter of Herman and
Anna (Stunkel) Boerger. She married Herman Dietrich Schmidt March
7, 1923, at Topeka, Ill. He died Jan. 11, 1980.
Surviving
are one son, Ralph H. (and Betty) Schmidt of Lincoln; two
daughters, Lenora M. (and Otto) Bargfrede of St. Louis, Mo., and
Helen L. (and Dean) Maaks of Lincoln; one niece, Shirley Yeager of
Hendley, Neb., who was raised in the Schmidt home; seven
grandchildren; and one sister, Wilhelmine Huber of Oregon, Wis.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant
daughter, Frances; two sisters; two brothers; and one grandson.
She
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Memorials
may be made to the church or to Zion Lutheran School, Lincoln.
