Capstone
survey shows Lincoln residents like their town

A year ago, with a grant from the State of
Illinois, the Lincoln Police Department organized
Capstone, a community policing project that began with an
assessment of the community’s strengths and areas of
concern. A sixty-member advisory group met with
consultants from the Regional Institute of Community
Policing, to discuss issues related to quality of life,
safety, crime, and satisfaction with city services.

2000] The Lincoln
Daily News wants to do its part to make our community—Logan
County—even better than it already is. The recent survey by the
Capstone committee in Lincoln shows that residents are pretty
happy with most of life in their fair city. But they point to a
few problems—animal control, street maintenance, sewers, and
sidewalks for example.
