Charles J. Sablotny, 87, of Lincoln died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Union Cemetery in Lincoln, with Tony Shuff officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Sablotny retired after 27 years as an electrical contractor in Lincoln. He was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Lincoln, a son of Fred and Caroline (Brenne) Sablotny. He married Lois Biggs Jan. 27, 1934, in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Gerling of Bloomington and Judith (and Larry) Braughton of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter; and a son-in-law, Gerald Gerling. Following retirement, Sablotny and his wife worked as lay missionaries in Lebanon, Belgium, Germany, France, Sri Lanka, Alaska, Ahiti and for two terms in Assiout, Egypt. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Illinois.

Harold M. Fink, 86, of Lincoln died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden, with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officating. Burial will be at Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour before the service at the church in Emden on Friday. Fink had farmed for 50 years in the Emden area. He was born April 22, 1913, at Hartsburg, a son of Harm E. and Anna (Rademaker) Fink. He married Mary Lou Mills Aug. 10, 1960, at Emden. She survives, in Lincoln. Also surviving are two daughters and one stepdaughter, Vicki (and Jerry) Crane of Delavan, Valerie (and Tom) Alberts of Emden and Marsha (and Bill) Langellier of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin D. Fink, and one grandson, Timothy R. Crane. Fink was baptized July 11, 1913, and confirmed April 1, 1928. He attended the Hartsburg-Emden schools. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden, where he was a former trustee and secretary and a member of the Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #914 and the Logan County Farm Bureau and was a former town clerk of Orville Township, Memorials may be made to Camp Greishiem or to the Christian Village.
