Charles
J. Sablotny, 87, of Lincoln died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15,
2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Private
graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Union
Cemetery in Lincoln, with Tony Shuff officiating.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Sablotny
retired after 27 years as an electrical contractor in Lincoln.
He
was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Lincoln, a son of Fred and Caroline (Brenne)
Sablotny. He married Lois Biggs Jan. 27, 1934, in Pekin. She
survives.
Also
surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Gerling of Bloomington and
Judith (and Larry) Braughton of Memphis, Tenn.; four
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter; and a
son-in-law, Gerald Gerling.
Following
retirement, Sablotny and his wife worked as lay missionaries in
Lebanon, Belgium, Germany, France, Sri Lanka, Alaska, Ahiti and
for two terms in Assiout, Egypt.

Harold
Fink Harold
M. Fink, 86, of Lincoln died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000,
at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln. Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church in Emden, with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officating. Burial
will be at Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg. Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holland & Barry Funeral
Home in Lincoln and one hour before the service at the church in
Emden on Friday. Fink
had farmed for 50 years in the Emden area. He
was born April 22, 1913, at Hartsburg, a son of Harm E. and Anna (Rademaker)
Fink. He married Mary Lou Mills Aug. 10, 1960, at Emden. She
survives, in Lincoln. Also
surviving are two daughters and one stepdaughter, Vicki (and
Jerry) Crane of Delavan, Valerie (and Tom) Alberts of Emden
and Marsha (and Bill) Langellier of Lincoln; seven grandchildren
and two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin D. Fink, and one
grandson, Timothy R. Crane. Fink
was baptized July 11, 1913, and confirmed April 1, 1928. He
attended the Hartsburg-Emden schools. He
was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden, where he was
a former trustee and secretary and a member of the
Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #914 and
the Logan County Farm Bureau and was a former town clerk of

Mae Kane
Barbara
Mae Kane, 75, of Lincoln died at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 18,
2000, at Christian Village in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, February 22, at 1:30 p.m. at First
Christian Church of Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. Ms.
Kane will be interned at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
Ms.
Kane was a member of the Christian Church Choir in Lincoln.
Born on November 1, 1924, in Springfield, Illinois, Ms. Kane
was the daughter of Philo B. and Mildred P. York Kane.
She is survived by two brothers, Philo B. Kane, Jr. of
Scottsdale, Arizona, and Vancil Y. Kane of Lewes, Deleware.

Allen Jarrell
Ralph
Allen “Whitey” Jarrell, 72, of Hartsburg died at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital at 9:29 p.m. Thursday, February 17,
2000.
Funeral
services will be held Monday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. at
Holland & Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. The Rev. Larry
Maffett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service, also at
Holland & Barry.
Jarrell
worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria for 28 years, retiring in
1988. He was a
Methodist, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member
of the Eagles Lodge #2708 in Lincoln.
Jarrell
was born the son of William Elmer and Katherine Margaret (Werkman)
Jarrell on June 4, 1928, in Logan County, Illinois.
He married Joyce Birkes in Lincoln on December 30, 1950.
She survives, as do three daughters, Vicki Hilton of
Hartsburg, Marcella Davis of Richmond, Kentucky, Shiela Farmer of
Chestnut, and a son, Rick Jarrell of Taylorville.
Also surviving are two sisters, Della Brewer and Lura
Jarrell, both of Springfield.
Two brothers, Leroy and John Jarrell, preceded him in
death.
