Explosion Fire at Mount Pulaski business
[FEB. 23, 2000] "It sounded just like a bomb, followed by a fireball which shot out of the building through a doorway, knocking down a wall," Chief Robert Thomas of the Lincoln Rural Fire Department declared. Firefighters from Atlanta, Beason, Chestnut, Lincoln, rural Lincoln and Mount Pulaski fire departments responded to a report of heavy smoke and some flames at a maintenance building for Mt. Pulaski Products, Skelton Plant. Logan County paramedics also responded and remained on the scene.

"Working"
[FEB. 23, 2000] "Working," one of the most frequently staged musicals in the American theater, will be presented by Lincoln College students this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the college’s Johnston Center for Performing Arts. The popular play is based on the book of the same name by Studs Terkel, a Chicago author, radio personality and interviewer. Terkel, called one of the greatest oral historians of our time, captured the voices of working men and women from all walks of life in his 1974 book.

Radio, Semi Trailer Taken
Some
time between February 11 and February 13, 2000, unknown person(s)
forced entry to a 1999 Freightliner semi tractor while it was
parked in a lot between the Wendy’s restaurant and the Burwell
Travel Plaza on Woodlawn Road.
The unknown person(s) broke a window and took a television
and citizen band radio. The
semi tractor was moved and the trailer the tractor was attached to
was taken. The
semi-trailer was loaded with washing compounds.
The semi-trailer was a 1992 box trailer, silver in color
with Heartland Express on the side.
Unit number 6151, the trailer had Iowa license plates on
it. Anyone with information concerning this incident or any other crime in the Lincoln/ Logan County area is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 217-732-3000.
